The momentum at Hyundai continues as the company prepares to unleash a fully redesigned Accent in the subcompact segment. The company chose to unveil the all-new 2012 Accent at the Montreal International Auto Show, a clear signal of the importance of Montreal and Quebec to the success of the Accent. The new Accent comes in a traditional 4-door sedan and a new 5 door hatchback. It uses the “Fluidic Sculpture” design language as seen on the new Elantra, Sonata and Tucson.
The 2012 Accent is powered by an all new 1.6 liter GDI direct injected four cylinder engine, producing 138hp with 123 lb-ft. A 6-speed automatic is offered, though a 6-speed manual transmission is standard. Estimated fuel consumption is 4.7 L/100 km highway.
All Accent models include 6 air bags, active front head restraints, stability control, traction control and electric power steering. The Accent is the only subcompact vehicle to have four wheel disc braking system featuring ABS, Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD).
Power door locks are standard and power windows, remote keyless entry and power heated mirrors are available. A four speaker AM/FM/CD with iPod/USB/AUX jacks is standard while a 6 speaker, 172 watt AM/FM/XM/CD audio system featuring Bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel controls is available. Other options include cruise control, air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and power sunroof.
No pricing has been released yet but Hyundai maintains that the new Accent will go on sale without a price increase over the current Accent.
